Introduction:
The project is focused at two levels:

1. To develop a sustainable traffic commuter policy based upon mobility initiatives that limit the use of the motor car.  The project will develop through a series of marketing and demonstration campaigns.

2. At a demonstration level, marketing and management  initiatives for a transport sharing scheme will be developed at Odense University Hospital for the 8000 employees.  A final best practice document will be produced to analyse these initiatives.

ACTIVITY UPDATES:-

Guaranteed Ride Home, January 2004
The employees survey identified the importance of a guaranteed ride home, should the driver be unable to do so.  For three euros a month (membership of the actual clud is free) the hospital car share scheme provides this service.  Either a taxi for those living on the island of Funen, or train and taxi outside Funen.  Under the scheme, individuals are asked to pay their own fare and are then reimbused from the fund.

Ride share database, October 2003
Odense University Hospital reported an increase in take up of the ride share scheme with 230 employees now registered.  Numbers had increased in respose to the latest promotional campaign that established a guarenteed ride home policy.  The campaign targetted every employee with information through direct mailing.

First steps for car-pooling at Odense University Hospital.   April 2003
Before initiating a car-pooling service at Odense Hospital, staff and employers attended group interviews to identify peoples' needs and barriers.  People identified economy, parking and commuter travelling time as being important motivators to join the scheme; and dependancy on others and compatability as barriers.  Find out more in the detailed report attached below.

Following the group interviews, it was decided to develop and deliver the car-pooling scheme in four phases, each one building on the other:- first a direct marketing campaign, then the guaranteed ride home, followed by a marketing campaign and finally reserved parking enticements.
