IntroductionThe use of less polluting, renewable and regional fuels is a key point of the European initiative and action plan to promote alternatives to mineral oil. In the North Sea area, especially Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Germany there is some successful developments in promoting these alternatives. The North Sea region offers Natural Gas, which may reduce local pollution and the development of ozone. As part of fleet management, the Target project will convert the municipal vehicles to CNG and deliver associated promotional campaigns.
ACTIVITY UPDATES:-
Ministry of Building, Environment and Transport, Bremen April 2004The Bremen Target team will support the Ministry of Building, Environment and Transport in the State of Bremen to buy two CNG official cars in Summer 2004. In addition, the local authority responsible for refuse will also extend their car fleet with a CNG vehicle, again in summer 2004.
Start up procedures, Autumn 2003Initial meetings have been held at the office of the Senator for Building and the Environment to discuss the municipal fleet requirements. Although these procedures had been delayed at the start of the project, Bremen are now pleased to anounce first stage successful agreements.
