This Work Area encourages cross-sectoral partnership approaches to reduce car travel to urban and rural leisure attractions.

Across the North Sea Region leisure travel shows a major increase in car usage. Target 2 is developing a range of innovative measures that provide information, service and transport solutions for these leisure trips. To do this, the Transport and Leisure Work Area encourage s cross-sectional partnership approaches to reduce car travel to a range of urban and rural visitor attractions.

Project activities will:

Develop modern electronic technologies (Smart Card)
Provide incentives to encourage the use of public transport
Improve information and logistics
Integrate public transport, venue and accomodation packages
Implement congestion and parking prevention measures
Create a range of promotional material
Encourage the use of bicycles and other forms of green tourism
