IntroductionThe Bremen Target 2 element integrates environmentally friendly transport solutions with regional planning. Often a key problem for planners is the lack of integration between new developments and public transport services. As a result, the inhabitants of these new housing areas are dependent on their own car that generates avoidable traffic.
Target 2 will enhance public transport orientated planning. The 'Kommunalverbund Niedersachsen/Bremen' is an informal cooperation institution of the municipalities in the region, which will deliver an inner city analyses about the effects of a better link to public transport. A seminar for planners and decision makers is also an element of this Target 2 project. This project is a major element to involve the entire region and to develop long-term impacts through better planning tools.
