Introduction
Development work for cycling stations was a core element in Target 1, this will now be implemented and promoted in Target 2.  Cycling stations have several advantages, they offer safe storage of bikes and bike related services such as maintenance and bike-rental, as well as providing information for cycle routes and public transport. These stations provide a base for intermodal travel that support work and leisure related trips.  

The main central cycling station at Bremen central railway station is currently under reconstruction.  This will be supported by a network of local cycle stations to improve the use of the bicycle for intermodal travelling.  A study of local user needs at the Bremen Vegesack cycle station will be anylised and used in future public awareness campaigns.

Discussions have been ongoing between the local authority in Northern Bremen and the local railway.  It is good news as the site for the decentralised cycle stration in Bremen Vegesack has now been approved.
