Bremen partners of Target 2 held a national conference for stakeholders and politicians in the City of Bremen, June 27 2005. The event presented the results from local Target projects, highlighting their development; growing awareness and use by people; the benefits that provide solutions to local traffic problems; and benefits gained working within a European funding structures and exchanges with partners.
Senetor Jens Eckhoff, responsible for Building Environment and Transport in the State of Bremen opened the event. Target partners from the UK, the Netherlands and Jens Kurnol from the Interreg North Sea Secretariet supported the conference, alongside experts and stakeholders.
A press conference took place at the main railway station before the group boarded the 'Devils Moorland Express' - a project supported by Target 2 marketing funding, to continue the conference workshops in the hinterland village of Worpswede.
Bremen has implemented many projects that will continue and expand after Target 2. Most notable is their support to marketing of the DiscoveryCard smartcard and its transnational exchange with partner Gemeente schouwen-Duiveland. Other projects include:-
CNG renewable fuels for fleet service; mobility management measures for 'botanika'; Moorexpress - Devils Moorland express; bike bus; car-sharing integration into spatial planning; Cycle stations; and MobilPunkt interchanges. All of which are detailed on this site.
