WhizzGo, the Leeds city car club, and Metro joined forces in December for a weekend to promote sustainable transport in Chapel Allerton. A WhizzGo double-decker decorated with balloons parked near the WhizzGo car bays outside the Old Police Station in Chapel Allerton, soon attracted the attention of local residents. And the WhizzGo team were on hand to talk about the way people travel in the region.
There was a great deal of interest from the public, enquiring about the services offered by Metro and finding out how a car club actually works. Several people have already signed up, taking advantage of being able to use a brand new Citroen C3s on their doorstep, without having to pay the costs of a car.
WhizzGo encourages people to think about how they travel. Instead of clogging up the roads with personal cars, WhizzGo members only use a car when they need one. Therefore reducing pollution and congestion in and around Leeds. Being a memebr of the Leeds car club takes away all the hassle of car ownership by taking care of all the cleaning, maintenance, servicing and insurance. And the hourly rate includes fuel, so members reduce their travel costs considerably.
WhizzGo is offering residents who join before the end of January the opportunity to try out the car club scheme for free, by giving £25 of free drive time. Metro offers all WhizzGo members a 15% discount on its annual MetroCards. So this is a great time to join.
