Travelling scholarship for Troels Andersen, September 2004The Danish Road Safety Council has presented a traffic award to Troels Andersen, who is a civil engineer employed by Odense Municipality. The award is in the form of a traveling scholarship for DKK 20,000. Troels has been given the award because of the particular efforts made through the years in improving school children's road safety.
Furthermore, emphasis has been placed on more recent years work in promoting bicycle traffic in Odense, with many of the initiatives been funded by the EU Target 2 project. The overall project has increased bicycle traffic by 20%. More importantly, the project has saved over 2000 years of life, merely by virtue of its health-promoting effects.
Soren Moller, alderman for Odense's Environmental and Technical Deoartment, said ' he is proud of the fact that Odense Municipality's work with road safety has been appreciated, and pleased at the distinction for Troels'.
