The aim of the Target 2 project was to develop, implement and evaluate mobility management activities. Commencing in June 2002, all 26 activities were implemented
during the three year life of the project.
Our Target 2 Final Report documents these activities, the results and outcomes. The project has demonstrated significant acheivement in the implmentation of a variety of travel solutions and shown that these can impact positively on modal shift. Projects will continue beyond the end of the project and many have become incorporated into mainstream activity for organisations involved in delivering them. This continuing expansion and future results of activities will continue to be reported on this web site.
Three overarching themes that have emerge from this project that provide a guide to developing the sustainable transport agenda:-
- Focused activity combined with sustained targeted marketing delivers modal shift.
- Behaviour, attitudes and culture change require sustained effort and resources. Nuturing awareness of sustainable options among youg people and continuesw at all stages of their lives.
- A strategic vision for sustainabletransport must include integrating that vision with a broader spatial development vision.
